At Lifestory Research, we have always wondered how trust plays a role in the decision-making of someone making a new home purchase.  From this question, we developed an ongoing research program that we call America's Most Trusted in which we ask people who are actively searching and shopping for a new home which builders do they trust. This research program has now been collecting answers to this question for the last ten years, and once a year, we stop, and we analyze, and we share the insights of what consumers tell us are the home builders that they trust the most. Here we share the top home builder ratings.

This year, in the Lifestory Research 2021 America's Most Trusted® Home Builder Study, we found for the sixth year in a row Taylor Morrison Homes is the brand most trusted. Given the complex nature of the home building industry, it is a notable distinction to retain the trust of home shoppers year after year.  The sustained success of Taylor Morrison as the Most Trusted Builder in America speaks to the success of the brand to continually establish trust among the waves of new home shoppers that enter the market each year.

Taylor Morrison received the highest trust ratings among the largest home builder brands in the United States.  As the 2021 Lifestory Research America's Most Trusted® Home Builder brand, Taylor Morrison produced a Net Trust Quotient Score of 120.4 and received the 5 Star Trust Rating among people shopping for a new home.

Which home builder can you trust?

The 2021 ranking of Home Builders is based on the opinions of 48,317 people surveyed between January and December in the United States, among customers actively shopping for a new home. The national ranking includes the largest home builders in the United States based on annual closings. The final ranking of brands were builder brands known throughout the United States as measured by brand awareness in the largest 35 housing markets. The trust score is calculated based on how thousands of people judge the merits of more than 500 brands and product segments. In the final ranking, brands were nationally recognized with enough survey responses to achieve a 95% confidence level with no more than a 2% margin of error. What are the most recommended home builders? 

The Lifestory Research America's Most Trusted® Builder Study investigates perceptions of home builders among people searching for a new home.  The study measures the influence of customer experiences in the shopping journey and how brand encounters impact word of mouth, quality evaluations, brand trust, and several other measures used to better understand brand performance.

The Trust Quotient Score generated from home shoppers allows home builders to be ranked and compared across several product categories.  In addition, the national ranking of home builders includes a star rating system by which brands are compared within the home building product category.  Brands that generate a 5-star rating are those home builders found to be most trusted by home shoppers.  Taylor Morrison received the highest Net Trust Quotient score and earned the #1 ranking of most trusted home builder brands.  Taylor Morrison has earned the top-ranked brand in the Lifestory Research America's Most Trusted study six consecutive years from 2016-2021 among people shopping for a new home.
