What are the best smart thermostat brands? The Lifestory Research 2021 America’s Most Trusted® Smart Thermostat Brand Study identified Google Nest Learning Thermostat as the most trusted brand among people shopping for a smart thermostat for their home. Nest produced a Net Trust Quotient Score of 120.1 and the 5 Star Trust Rating among people actively shopping for a smart thermostat. This is the second time that consumers have selected Google Nest as the most trusted smart thermostat. 

Nest received the best trust ratings among the most popular smart thermostat brands as judged by consumers.

WHICH BRAND CAN YOU TRUST?

The Lifestory Research 2021 America’s Most Trusted® Smart Thermostat Brand Study examines trust among consumers actively shopping for a smart thermostat. The 2021 ranking is based on 5,489 people surveyed between January and December 2020 in the United States by actively shopping for a smart thermostat. Brands needed to receive enough survey responses to achieve a 95% confidence level and no more than a 3% margin of error.  If a brand had a low brand awareness and did not have enough brand judgments, these brands were excluded from the rankings.

The Lifestory Research Net Trust Quotient Score measures trust people hold in brands in different product categories, including smart thermostat brands.  The trust score is computed from thousands of people conveying the merits of the brands in the study.  Scores are standardized across more than 500 brands and product segments included in the study and then rank-ordered within each product segment.

The smart thermostat brands most recognized in the study were Google Nest Learning Thermostat, Honeywell, Trane, GLAS,  Emerson Sensi,  Lux, Carrier, Lennox, and Ecobee. Brand awareness and brand familiarity determined if a smart thermostat brand was known well enough to be included in the national trust ranking.  Nest received the highest Net Trust Quotient score and earned the #1 ranking of most trusted smart thermostat brands in 2020 and 2021 America’s Most Trusted studies.
