The 2024 America’s Most Trusted Study
Originating more than a decade ago, the America’s Most Trusted® study was begun to support brands striving to understand better how trust plays a role when people shop for a product. Successful mattress brands understand how consumer trust directly impacts business outcomes. The mattress study has become the definitive ranking of brand trust and is eagerly anticipated each year, with updated results published in January.
Brand trust is customers' confidence in a brand's ability to deliver its promises. Developing brand trust with mattress customers is essential to ensure their return. When consumers trust a mattress brand, they are more confident about purchasing and recommending it to others. Brand trust also helps build customer loyalty, as customers are likelier to stay with a mattress brand they trust. Brand trust builds customer loyalty, fosters repeat purchases, encourages word-of-mouth marketing, and creates positive impressions of the company.
Each year of the study, Lifestory Research posts the most recent results of the America’s Most Trusted® study. We conduct over 75 specific product studies annually, surveying thousands of people about their perceptions and experiences with different brand products. The mattress study uses our validated Net Trust Quotient Score to measure how much people trust specific brands while shopping for a particular product.
The Net Trust Quotient Score (NTQS) is a metric that measures the level of trust customers hold in a specific mattress brand. The NTQS helps see if a mattress meets customer expectations compared to competitor brands. This mattress trust metric seeks to provide consumer-driven data insights using social and opinion science research practices that use the highest quality consumer research standards.
In 2024, what are the top mattress brands people trust the most? To answer this question, the top mattress brands were rated in the America’s Most Trusted Study. The study identified the most popular mattress brands and asked people to review these brands. The brands in the final trust ratings included Ashley Sleep, Casper, Leesa, Purple, Sealy, Serta, Simmons Beautyrest, Sleep Number, Spring Air, Stearns & Foster, and Tempur Pedic.
Lifestory Research's mattress ratings, reviews, and awards derive from comprehensive survey feedback, specifically gathered from the opinions and trust ratings of participants in the mattress study. Our methodology excludes reliance on third-party reviews, editorial committees, or industry professionals when determining the most trusted mattress brands. Instead, we prioritize the authentic perspectives of real individuals, adhering to rigorous social scientific survey standards to ascertain mattress ratings.
Our approach incorporates sample sizes carefully crafted to mirror the target audience's opinions. The findings of all mattress research are solely rooted in the insights provided by individuals who independently completed surveys within the framework of America's Most Trusted Research program.
2024 America’s Most Trusted Mattress
The Lifestory Research 2024 America’s Most Trusted® Mattress Study found Tempur-Pedic to be the most trusted brand among people considering the purchase of a mattress. With the Net Trust Quotient Score of 115.3, Tempur-Pedic had the highest trust rating among the most popular mattress brands. Tempur-Pedic has ranked at the top of the mattress rating multiple years in the annual mattress study. The repeated success of the brand reflects the depth of trust consumers have in the Tempur-Pedic brand.
Among the 11 most recognized mattress brands, consumers rated, in order, Tempur-Pedic, Serta, Sealy, Sleep Number, Simmons Beautyrest, Stearns & Foster, Casper, Purple, Ashley Sleep, Spring Air, and Leesa as the most trusted. Based on consumer reviews and trust ratings, Tempur-Pedic is the top mattress brand.
A Lifestory Research survey of 6,173 people in the United States between January and December led to the Tempur-Pedic ranking as America's Most Trusted Mattress for 2024. Brands included in the final order were nationally recognized by people actively shopping for a mattress. The study finds that how people rank the quality of a mattress brand, and the quality of the mattress product directly indicates how satisfied they are with their purchase and how they form brand trust.
For a brand to be considered in the America’s Most Trusted® mattress rankings, it must have a certain level of consumer recognition. This means that people should know about the mattress brand and have formed opinions about it. If a brand lacks this recognition or enough feedback, it won't be included in our rankings.
To make it into the mattress rankings, a mattress brand needs to have received many responses in our surveys. This is crucial for ensuring the accuracy of our results. We use a rigorous statistical approach, requiring a 95% confidence level with no more than a 3% margin of error. This means we can be highly certain that the opinions we represent reflect those of the surveyed population.
In addition, we ensure that our sample size is large enough to guarantee the validity and reliability of the mattress survey results. This ensures that our mattress rankings are based on solid data and provides consumers and industry professionals with valuable insights.
