The 2024 America’s Most Trusted Study

Founded over a decade ago, America's Most Trusted® has sought to aid brands in understanding how shopping decisions are influenced by trust. To be successful, brands must understand precisely how consumer trust impacts business performance. New results are published each year in January, making it a definitive ranking of brand trust.

Trust building is necessary to ensure power tool brand customers' return or repeat purchases. A power tool brand brand's reputation is determined by customers' confidence in the company's ability to deliver its promises. Consumers who trust a power tool brand have a greater propensity to purchase and recommend it to others. Brand trust also contributes to customer loyalty, as they are more likely to remain loyal to the power tool brand they trust.

Lifestory Research unveils the latest annual results of the America’s Most Trusted® study. We survey thousands of consumers annually, seeking insights into their perceptions and experiences with various brand products through over 75 specific product studies. Within this study, we utilize the Net Trust Quotient Score to measure individuals' trust in brands during shopping.

Net Trust Quotient Scores (NTQS) are used to determine whether a product meets customer expectations compared to competing brands within a specific product category by assessing the level of trust customers hold for a particular brand within a specific product category. With this trust metric, consumer-driven insights are provided using social and opinion science research practices that adhere to the highest standards of consumer research.

What are the top power tool brands people trust the most? To answer this question, America’s Most Trusted Study surveys thousands of people and asks them to rate each brand within the product category.

2024 America’s Most Trusted Power Tool Brand

The Lifestory Research 2024 America’s Most Trusted® Power Tool Study found DeWalt to be the most trusted brand among people considering the purchase of a power tool. This is the third-year consumers rated DeWalt as the most trusted power tool brand.

The Lifestory Research 2024 America’s Most Trusted® Power Tool ranking is based on 7,330 opinions of people surveyed in the United States over the last 12 months.

With a Net Trust Quotient Score of 121.2, DeWalt had the highest trust rating among the most popular power tool brands. The most trusted power tool brands, in order, were Dewalt, Craftsman, Bosch, Black+Decker, Stanley, Milwaukee, Makita, Ryobi, Kobalt, Husky, Ridgid, Hilti, and Irwin.

A power tool brand's low awareness and insufficient evaluative data determined exclusion from the rankings. Power tool brands needed to accumulate enough survey responses to attain a 95% confidence level with no more than a 3% margin of error to qualify. This statistical rigor is central to the accuracy and representativeness of the surveyed population's opinions concerning the power tool brands analyzed.
